IS AYURVEDA SAFE FOR ME?

Having originated in the prehistoric times, the ancient practice of Ayurveda has shown an improvement in the lives of many. In the past, Westerners had limited knowledge of this ancient concept, which brought about skepticism of its effectiveness. However, with the increased sharing of Ayurvedic knowledge amongst healthcare providers, this wariness is slowly turning into appreciation of the system.

It is important for a patient to understand that Ayurvedic medicine does have side effects just like any other medical system. Ayurvedic therapies in Sri Lanka are done by qualified professionals who are trained and well experienced. Hence patients do not have to worry about incorrect or improper use of Ayurvedic drugs that could magnify the side effects in a patient.

However, when seeking Ayurvedic treatment, it is important for a patient to communicate and disclose all information regarding any therapies they are currently undergoing and any effects being experienced as a result of those therapies. This will help Ayurvedic doctors in Sri Lanka to avoid prescribing drugs that could be conflicting.

Ayurvedic advocates often vouch for the amazing longevity of the system and believe that to be a powerful argument for guaranteeing its safety and success. Although much research has not been conducted regarding Ayurvedic treatment, conservative medical settings often make use of the principles and practices of Ayurveda. Furthermore, amateurs and professionals both acknowledge the health benefits of yoga, meditation, massage and other Ayurvedic treatments in Sri Lanka. In fact, medicine such as ginger, turmeric and need, prescribed by Ayurveda doctors are considered healthy for the heart as well as for detoxifying the body.

Just like any other scientific concept, Ayurveda is conducted under careful observation. Ayurveda in Sri Lanka focuses mainly on individual treatment. Every therapy is customized based on the needs of each patient. The concept of Ayurveda informs that no two people are alike and hence every individual will be treated with a different formula for the same disease. For this reason, it is almost impossible to conduct surveys that measure the result of a single treatment on many people.

For those in doubt of the safety of conducting Ayurveda in Sri Lanka, do keep in mind that the World Health Organization recognizes Ayurveda as being a traditional form of medicine. Moreover, the formal definition of health according to the WHO was derived from the principles of Ayurveda.
