Flora & Fauna

Flora & Fauna

Sri Lanka is the paradise of flora and fauna. The country has over 90 species of mammal (elephant, leopard, bear, Sloth Bear, Dugong, Wild Boar, Porcupine and Monkeys) including both the biggest mammals on land and Sea, the Elephant and the Blue Whale, hundreds of butterflies, over 80 snake species (including deadly cobras and vipers), and about 435 species of birds. Tropical rainforest covers much of the southwestern part of the island, where teak and ebony grow. The plant life ranges from that of the equatorial rain forest to that of the dry zone and the more temperate climate of the highlands
At The Privilege Ayurveda Resort there are no fertilizers used across the three and half acre property on any of the trees or the green lush garden, making it a paradise for many birds ( Parrot, House Sparrow, Yellow Fronted Barbet, Intermediate Egret) and Squirrels. The Ayurveda resort boasts many small ponds which helps the bird to cool down during the heavy heat of April & September and refresh at the end of the day
